Comic-Con 2012: Pink eye causes trouble on set of ‘Total Recall’

It's only fun until someone gets pink eye.

Earlier this afternoon, Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel and Bryan Cranston talked to journalists about making "Total Recall," Len Wiseman's upcoming remake of the 1990 Arnold Schwarzenegger classic.

The movie features lots of explosions, high-kicking fight scenes, and flying cars, but the only on-set injury of note occurred not because of an errant punch or a ball of flames but from eight inches of warm water.

Bryan Cranston, who plays the world's meanest chemist in "Breaking Bad" and who plays the villain in this film, spent many hours in the water in question while shooting a fight scene. He got such a scorching case of pink eye that Wiseman said that "after filming we had to go back in and we removed" the ailment digitally in post production.

As you can read below, Farrell, Biel and company used the press conference as an opportunity to rib their co-star.

Yahoo: Did anyone get injured either during training or filming?

Beckinsale: I didn't.

Biel: I didn't.

Cranston: I got pink eye.

Farrell: You got SUCH BAD PINK EYE MAN! ... He looked like he came off a three day bender in Saigon in '72!

Cranston: We were fighting... in about eight inches of water. And, lovely people that they are, the crew heated up the water so that we weren't cold all the time. But then it became like a Petri dish.

Beckinsale (joking): Did someone pee in the water?

Cranston: Someone told me it's fecal matter --that's how you get pink eye!

No word on who, if anyone, might have had an accident in the pool.

"Total Recall" opens everywhere August 3.
