We know you've been waiting for the day to arrive ... when comedy-horror film "Leprechaun" finally makes its comeback.
The original 1993 film stars not only Warwick Davis ("Return of the Jedi," "Labyrinth," "Willow") as the evil, little, tickling Leprechaun, but also budding actress Jennifer Aniston — before her "Friends" run — as a snobby, guy-crazy young woman who finds herself way out of her element in rural South Dakota. (See her freak out, above, as little 'ol Leprey magically appears.)
The film spawned five sequels including 1997's "Leprechaun 4: In Space" and 2000's "Leprechaun: In the Hood," starring Ice-T (who at one point draws a baseball bat from his Afro to beat down the little critter).
It's been ten years too long since we've last seen Mr. Leprechaun on film — at least according to the filmmakers planning a franchise reboot. Lionsgate and WWE studios have teamed up to make a new (and improved?) "Leprechaun" and have their leading wee man cast: none other than WWE "cruiser weight" superstar Hornswoggle. And Steven Spielberg protege Zach Lipovsky has just signed on to direct.
In honor of the long-awaited onscreen cheese-fest, let us reminisce over Aniston's best "Leprechaun" moments — in GIF form:
Hey, we'd be scared too if an icky — albeit tiny — hand reached out from our phone.
This is when Aniston's character thinks her new beau is touching her leg. (Notice the period-appropriate L.A. Gear high tops!) Little does she know it's that creepy Leprechaun!
Okay, now this is when things just get plain scary — when she realizes a dead man is dangling above her.
After all the terror at the hands of that magically-frightening guy in green, can you blame her for bringing out the big gun?Follow me on Twitter (@meriahonfiah)
