Jennifer Lawrence has got the blues again, and she's enjoying it more this time around.

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" director Bryan Singer took to his Twitter account today to post a pic of Lawrence in costume and make up as Mystique, the sexy but villainous mutant from the Marvel Comics universe, giving us all a preview of how she'll appear in the next "X-Men" movie.

"First look: #JenniferLawrence as a vengeful #Mystique. #XMen #DaysOfFuturePast," Singer tweeted, tagging a picture of Lawrence looking patient but ready to put her powers to work, while a make-up artist puts the final touches on her head-to-toe blue skin and bright red hair.

Judging from Singer's picture, Lawrence doesn't look radically different than she did in 2011's "X-Men: First Class," where she first took on a younger version the role Rebecca Romijn played in 2000's "X-Men" and two subsequent sequels. Yet for Lawrence, things are radically different this time around.

In 2011, Lawrence was made to look like Mystique primarily through blue latex appliances and body make-up. "There's no CG for me! It's the same methods as they were using on Rebecca Romijn, the original Mystique, ten years ago," Lawrence remarked during a behind-the-scenes featurette about "X-Men: First Class." "It's all air-brushed, they place the scales first, then they do three layers of airbrush blue and then five layers of splattering different colors."

Each application of Mystique's make-up would take six cosmetologists upwards of seven hours to apply. "I had a theory of when I was really tired, when I was on my seventh hour, why didn't you just dip me in a bath tub of blue?" Lawrence joked.

This time around, a body suit has been designed that achieves the same look in less time and with less discomfort to the actress.

"I'm so excited because I'm going to wear a body suit," Lawrence told a reporter. "It will be from neck down so it will cut out time and the blisters."

Of course, Bryan Singer and the rest of the crew on "X-Men: Days of Future Past" have good reason to keep Jennifer Lawrence happy. In 2011, when Lawrence appeared in "First Class," she was best known to critics for her impressive performance in 2010's "Winter's Bone" and to TV viewers as a regular on the short-lived sitcom "The Bill Engvall Show."

Now, Lawrence has a Best Actress Oscar on her shelf for her work in "Silver Linings Playbook," and as the star of "The Hunger Games" and the upcoming sequel "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," she's headlining a franchise that in time could be just as profitable as "X-Men." In short, in two years she's gone from a promising young actress to a genuine star with some serious accolades to her credit.

Apparently, with all that to your credit, you get a body suit.

"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" is scheduled to open in theaters on July 14, 2014.
