Exclusive: Watch a deleted scene from 'Dallas Buyers Club':
For all the awards season recognition Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto have received for "Dallas Buyer's Club," their co-star Jennifer Garner deserves some major praise.
McConaughey thinks so, at least.
"She's got to walk this tight rope," the Oscar-nominated actor told Yahoo Movies last fall of Garner's role as his physician in the film. "Tough role to have," he said, explaining that she was tasked with de-coding medical jargon and essentially playing the 'straight woman' to he and Leto's rather big onscreen personas. "[It] can sometimes be the 'thankless role,'" McConaughey added in appreciation of his cast mate.
Garner appears in this deleted scene (above), seen here first on Yahoo Movies. In it, she faces off with her supervisor who tries to order her to keep doses of AZT at a high level for her HIV-AIDS patients.
A key to the film's story, the AIDS-stricken Ron Woodroof (McConaughey), wholly rejects AZT after he has taken the experimental drug and experienced its toxic side effects. Along his journey to alternative medicines he convinces Eve (Garner) that his way is right.
"Dallas Buyer's Club" is nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture. It's available now on Blu-ray, DVD and on demand.
Watch the Oscars live on March 2 on ABC at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, and stick with Yahoo Movies for Academy Awards coverage all season long.
