What's The Story
The small town of Wallace, Illinois, has seen better days. In a time when the town is sorely lacking in community spirit, one little girl gives its citizens something to cheer about. Eleven-year-old Jasmine is determined to become a quarterback in the Pop Warner youth football league, despite the fact that no female of any age has ever held the position in over a half century of league play. Together she and her uncle take on the odds and prove that a little determination can go the whole nine yards.
Three Good Reasons
- 1 Some of the best feel-good movies are the ones that give you an appreciation for our real-life heroes, and the true story of Jasmine Plummer is authentically heart-warming.
- 2 As those who saw the critically-acclaimed Akeelah and the Bee will attest, young actress Keke Palmer knows how to win hearts as a girl with the odds stacked against her.
- 3 Because if someone told you ten years ago there'd be an uplifting family film starring rap icon Ice Cube and directed by Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, you would've never believed them.
Bet You Didn't Know
Pop Warner youth football is the only national youth sports organization that requires that its participants keep up their grades. The real Jasmine Plummer, incidentally, made straight A's during the events depicted in this film.
