What's The Story
Reefer madness reaches Tarantino-esque intensity in this goofy, politically incorrect action comedy. Ever in search of the quintessential herb, dealer Saul Silver has obtained a rare new variety called Pineapple Express. Unfortunately, it's so rare that when loyal customer Dale Denton drops his joint at the scene of a murder he witnessed, it leads a horde of dirty cops and drug dealers right to Saul's door. Can these two stoners pull it together long enough to escape the crime's aftermath?
Three Good Reasons
- 1 If you thought Superbad was supergood, you'll love Pineapple Express. It was also written by lifelong pals Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg and is just as crudely in-your-face hilarious.
- 2 Just because it's a comedy doesn't mean it skimps on the action. Get ready for all the explosions, gunfire, and car chases you'd expect of a summer action extravaganza.
- 3 Because you've never seen the deadly handsome James Franco (Harry Osborn in Spider-Man) looking quite so much like something the cat dragged in, ate, and coughed back up.
Bet You Didn't Know
"Pineapple Express" is a name well-associated with disaster, if you're a certified meteorologist. The so-named torrential downpours that run along the West Coast are linked to something called the Madden-Julian Oscillation, an unexplainable event that causes rainfall to fluctuate bizarrely along the equator in a predictable pattern that-- sorry, did we just harsh your buzz?
