What's The Story
Planet Nill is in danger, and so are the tiny aliens who inhabit it! To save their lives, the small fries board a spaceship that happens to look like a human-sized version of their captain. After the ship, called "Dave," crash-lands on Earth, the captain and crew pilot the vessel in a clumsy attempt to infiltrate human society and find help. To complicate matters, a beautiful Earth woman hits Dave with her car, and somehow they start dating. Does the aliens' homeworld stand any more chance than this bizarre romance?Three Good Reasons
- 1The lack of a fat suit in Meet Dave could be a sign that unlike Eddie Murphy's last few efforts, this movie might be rated "appropriate for senses of humor over thirteen."
- 2Since Murphy is playing two parts, he gets to woo both Elizabeth Banks and Gabrielle Union. That has to be more fun for him than playing romantic scenes against himself in a dress.
- 3The script was co-written by Bill Corbett of the cult hit Mystery Science Theater 3000, which means you can feel free to start cracking jokes in the theater.
