What's The Story
This fast-paced, post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller is based on a cult-hit French novel called
Babylon Babies. Enter a world where human-machine hybrids are coming into their own, and where biological warfare has been raised to an art form. Mercenary Thoorop has been paid to deliver a young woman, Marie, from Russia to Canada, and soon comes to realize he's also escorting her genetically-engineered bun in her oven. What this girl's smuggling makes Rosemary's demon spawn look like the Gerber baby.
Three Good Reasons
- 1It's post-apocalyptic sci-fi! Sometimes it's refreshing to take a look at a world that is so far gone it makes reality look downright pleasant in comparison.
- 2Celebrate Vin Diesel's 10th year of big-screen butt kicking.
- 3It's written and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz, who's best known in this country for romancing Amelie, but in Europe he's famous for his gritty, violent films like La Haine (Hate).
Bet You Didn't Know
Michelle Yeoh, who stars as Sister Rebecca, is one of the only women that Jackie Chan feels comfortable letting do her own stunts in his movies. She had no formal martial arts training before she got into movies, but she did study ballet at the London Royal Academy of Dance.
