  • I like the simpleness of the theater. While other bigger cinema's can have long lines at both ticket counter and concession, you can get both at the same counter here. My husband and I found this helpful and more efficient since we would waste valuable showtime waiting in a slow concession line at Regal Stonington, that we nicknamed it Slo-ningtons while they were short staffed. (we have since been there a few times and the wait wasn't as bad as in the past) The only downside to Groton's Cinema is that not every seat has a drink holder. Why is this? Do they expect that only dates come here and will share? I do have nostagalic feelings for this cinema. In the 80's and before, it was the UA theater and my ex and I would go alot after going to Ground Round, which is also missed. Do we really eed another bank?

  • I love the Groton Cinema 6...and not just because they serve Pepsi at the concession stand (though that does factor in since I prefer Pepsi over Coke any day)...where else can you see a first run movie for $5 (only on Tuesdays and Wednesdays)? Not only that but the Cinema 6 is family owned and operated and I prefer to have my ticket/soda money support a local family rather than line the pockets of the corporate run mega chain theatres in the area. The staff is friendly and helpful (if you're unsure about a movie, ask one of the folks behind the concession stand and you'll get a thoughtful, insightful mini-review which can help you choose), and while the floor can occasionally be sticky, the aisles are clean and so are the seats (ditto with the ladies room). It has a cosy, relaxed, friendly atmosphere which helps make your movie going experience truly enjoyable.
