It is my favorite movie theater and it is great that there is discounted parking.
I have been watching movies at the Ritz 5 Theater and its related Ritz at the Bourse and Ritz East since I moved to Philadelphia in 1990. I like to think of them together as a 12-screen multiplex devoted to art films lovingly placed among treasured national monuments; these three theaters sit adjacent to Philadelphia's Independence National Park. And I love that I can get to the these theaters using public transportation and do not need to use a car. The Ritz theaters are the primary reasons why I do not want to leave the Philadelphia area. I cannot imagine living somewhere without this amazing access to foreign, art-house and independent films.
I suggest parking in the nearby parking garage adjacent to the other Ritz theater around the corner (I think on 2nd). It is a discounted rate with the purchase of movie tickets. You will definitely get at least a citation if you don't add enough money to the meter, which I think has a 2 hour limit and often movies go over that. The theater is great. Is it just me or are the snacks also cheaper than at most chain movie theaters, and the options for movies are always good?
I have been going to the Ritz for more than 10 years, and it consistently provides a great experience.
