  • This theater is desperately in need of adult supervision. No one under 20 was managing the theater and the kids working there were clearly intimidated by the teenage grungers smoking in the lobby who sarcastically announced that since this was a privately owned business they were within their rights to smoke in a building that happened to serve food and drinks and take resident's money. This is the second weekend in a month that the smokers have defied people who asked them not to smoke. The theater was so cold, everyone was complaining of having to leave coats and scarves on. While I like having a theater on Emerald Isle, this place is rapidly going to the dumps and I really hope something positive happens to turn this place back around soon.

  • I don't see how anyone fines the Plantation a bad theater , dirty or other wise . It is quite ,the employs are very nice. .My daughter and I go at least once a month .We also attend the cinema in Jacksonville . The only difference I find is the price and the theaters in Jacksonville are newer . As for the popcorn it comes already popped in large bags .They only heat it ,they do not pop the corn anymore at the concesion stand .My grand-daughter worked in Morehead, she said they never pop it themselves in comes already popped in large bags which they empty into the machine to heat it . The sticky floors are where people spill their drinks .

  • I have lived here for 6 years, and I'm disappointed that this is the only movie theater near me. Every time I see a movie here, at one point or another, the screen doubles or the sound goes out. The floor is always sticky and the smell of the place is damp and moldy. It is also never a nice experience to have the smell of cigarette smoke drift into the theater from the lobby while you're watching a movie. The popcorn is okay, but the staff seem careless. Last time I was there and ordered a small bag of popcorn, I had so much butter at the bottom of my bag that it was leaking! To sum it up, the 35 minute drive to Carmike Cinema in Jacksonville is well worth the drive...

  • I am in LOVE with this theater! The Plantation is an amazing shopping/entertainment center and the theater is so clean and neat. I have lived near hear for about seven or eight years and I have always loved coming to the plantation to see movies. The staff there is always really nice and the food is really good! When I was in sixth grade, we went on a field trip there. The manager let us go up to see how the movie was played! And the theater is right next to the Emrald Isle Books and Toys store which my best friends grandparents own. Overall, great location, great staff, and great theater!!! :-)

  • The first movie i saw here was BATMAN in the 80's with my best friend. I was 14 or 15 yrs old. Behind us was Jim Valvano the great former NCST basketball coach and his family. I have many soooo many great memories of the place and too many fun time to remember them all. This place along with the Water bogan and lighthouse putt putt are land mark that should never close for generations to have summer memories to last a life time.
