Watched a movie here yesterday. Awesome environment. Great old school theater in a fun part of town. Must check this place out. This is where they're playing all the good movies and documentaries that you don't know about.
I saw one movie here when I lived in Oxford ("The Dreamers) and I wish I had seen more. I love independent theatres and wish there was one in or nearby Cedar Falls.
Just one block down Ludlow is the esteemed esquire theatre. Do you want to catch a documentary? How about a film with foreign actors that failed to "bust the block" due to the fact that it was filmed well, involved a pressing global issue, or required an IQ over seventy for viewing? Would you like to go on Tuesday and pay a mere five dollars and fifty cents for any showing at any time? Go there. Now. ... But wait until Tuesday.
What a great place to catch an independent movie! Small cozy theaters and movies that don't attract the kiddie crowd (hey I love the kids, but sometimes I want to watch a movie without the noise and interruptions). Show up early or stay late and browse through the great local shops or grab a bite to eat.
BRING CASH WITH YOU. They do not take credit cards. If need be, though, there is an ATM across the street. The show Independant, Art, Intellectual films. This is the only movie theatre I've been too that served hot tea. Not too expensive, and there are some restaurants nearby, which makes it extra convenient for a date.
