  • Agreed!! Eveningstar is a unique theater and a wonderful place to see a movie. The films are selected carefully and are a real delight to view. Personally, I'm glad Greg does not attempt to compete with the multi-plexes for the first-runs; this theater's choices are more interesting, thought-provoking, and of better quality than the vast majority of first-run flicks (at least in my opinion). Bravo Greg and Eveningstar - you're top-notch!

  • All that's said by the previous observer is correct...and more. From the beginnings of this theatre by Greg in the early '80s (?), it has been a very special part of the unique life found in Brunswick. (Originially, he would do a stand-up routine to introduce the film about to be shown. Almost impossible to imagine today.) It sometimes can't compete with the plexes for best first-runs, but still holds its own, by virtue of a loyal customer base. It's maintained its presence on Maine Street for a long time, when so many other establishes have fallen. At the Eveningstar, you always know you're at home in a group of people who appreciate film as much as you do. If you're new here and haven't tried it, you're missing out on a treat.

  • When you step into this theater, you step back into a time when popcorn and candy were a treat, and the people you see smile and say hello. Movies range from artsy to first run, and there are frequently special events such as silent movies shown with live piano playing or movies on aging, political activism, or the like with discussion sessions afterwards. It can even be rented for private parties too -- how unique is that! Quirky and fun, the Eveningstar sure beats the cookie-cutter movie theaters of today.
