this theater is very comfortable and cozy. refreshing and a joy to be in.
"it is one of the few in the Atlanta area that actually shows some risky independent films." The AMC Phipps Plaza?? Or are you thinking of the LeFont Sandy Springs or the UA Tara? Those show lots of independent films and are very nice and interesting theaters. As far as I am aware, the AMC at Phipps pretty much shows mostly your typical mainstream fare.
Despite the "crummy" environment of the theater, as the other reviewers suggest, it is one of the few in the Atlanta area that actually shows some risky independent films. It also has low prices in comparison to most theaters, along with the fantastic absence of commercials and trailers before the film, serving its primary purpose: film-viewing, rather than advertising.
Too loud and you can never find a human to turn it down or do anything. Too dirty and seats uncomfortable. We deserve a better theater in that shopping center. It is AWFUL!
Theater seats are uncomfortable, unless your movie happens to be playing in #11 or # 12. They need to update to the better high back seats for all viewings.
