I've said it a million times: Come up with a "best of" list and you're lucky if you see one African American on it. But produce a "worst of" list and black folks pop up all over the place.

The Core is a popcorn goofy sci-fi masterpiece. Well, maybe not a maseterpiece, but it's a really fun movie if you like B-movies done with an A-list cast and A-list budget. Watching Stanley Tuchi chew the scenery is worth the price of admission on its own. People that take things too seriously and care about the absolutely ludicrousscience in this movie just aren't into the spirit of the movie. Take you thinking caps off and just watch the fun.

This list is suspect. The worst follow up was Cuba Gooding in "pick any movie that came out after 'Jerry McGuire' "

I thought I was alone...but the movie that he made, where he stole another authors work, was not too bad. All the rest should go straight to the trash can.

Everything I have seen Cuba in has been good to excellent. The scripts or directions in some have been weak but he has always impressed me with his acting ability. Especially the film in which he played with Helen Mirren as a paid assassin.

It's called *lack* of good movie scripts/roles for blacks in Hollywood.

Today's movies are made for the dumbed down generation.

Amen to that. Ya gotta swing the camera all over the place and make jarring jump-cuts every 10 seconds to keep their weakened attention spans. And you can forget about plot, theme, & character development too, because that's just too much mental effort to invest at the local multiplex in the year 2012.

You want proof...the New Sherlock Holmes. They made it an action flick.

I agree! I got so tired of seeing the same old same movies with not talent, no real plot, etc. I thought the movies would be good by the movie reviewers, but then they were found to be useless.

People tend to forget that those stars usually sign up for those crappy films before they win the Oscar so they are obligated to do them. Then again, some just make crappy choices after the Oscar win too. Speaking of: Oscar = Nudity, ladies. 38 of the last 42 Best Actress Oscar winners have all appeared nude on screen -- some more than once. So to all you young actresses out there, if you want to win (or at least be nominated), show some skin.

its not what you know its who you know. Your right, save your money and get this stuff on Netflix's for a dollar. No move is worth $12 Oscar awards are a joke.

As a passionate lover of Ray and his music, I was disappointed in the movie. They dwelled on Ray's addiction far too much and didn't pay enough attention to what the man did best; write/sing music. LOVE COUNTRY STYLE is one of the best records EVER made; get it, listen to it, you'll love it. As a child, listening to Ray's music as he made it, I can tell you that his words and arrangements were FAR better than that movie Jamie Fox made. He should have stuck closer to the music and not all that phony crap about the water, that really went nowhere. Download Love Country Style and you will get addicted to the music, its that good.

I liked the movie but I do agree with you.

i agree too but we have to remember this is the movie Ray wanted to put out about himself he was still alive and there during the making of that film

People hate to see the humanity of their icons. He was a man with weaknesses. Accept it and appreciate what he was able to contribute to society in spite of....

That movies was a dud because they stole the ideal from Macross Plus, which was an awesome four part Animation series!

They always turn a good anime into a horrible movie in America. Have you seen DragonBall Z. Goku is not even ASIAN, but his girl is. smh.

        You tell'em, Rick Hunter!!!!! =)
      • All things change! 3 months ago
DBZ was awesome, they totally messed that up took me a year before i could watch it

And JP1 I would rather be Maximillian Sterling he married hot Miriya Parina-Sterling. Miriya is a female warlord and is considered the greatest warrior of all the Zentraedi.
Upon a challenge from Khyron that there was a "Micronian" [human] ace aboard the SDF-1 that even she could not best, who happens to be Max Sterling, though Khyron was actually referring to Rick Hunter. Intrigued, Miriya takes it upon herself to engage him in combat but finds herself frustrated as she cannot defeat him, a situation which she had never faced before nor did she think was possible. Determined to maintain her reputation, Miriya decides to be micronized to human form so she can infiltrate the SDF-1 to find the pilot and kill him.

At a video game arcade (which Miriya believes is a combat training facility), she again finds herself unbeatable at a combat simulation game until she is challenged to a duel by Max Sterling, who is the incredibly skilled pilot whom Miriya had dueled against in real combat. Max, who is attracted to Miriya, challenges her to a video game in the hope of getting to know her better. After a short game, Max defeats her, and Miriya concludes (correctly) that Max must be the ace pilot which she faced in real combat. Miriya is furious that she has been beaten again but as she storms off, Max asks her out on a date. Miriya, still determined to defeat him, accepts, although she secretly plots to kill him. Max, after consulting with his friend Rick Hunter about what he should wear, arrives at the park where he awaits Miriya's arrival. Hiding in the bushes, Miriya draws a knife and runs toward Max who, proclaiming, in English, a Zentraedi war cry: "Maximillian, prepare for your doom!" and throws the knife at him. Despite the surprise, Max is able to dodge Miriya's first attack and the knife buries itself in a tree. Miriya reveals that she is a Zentraedi warrior and that her mission is revenge against him, prompting Max to say "There goes our first date." Drawing a second knife, she continues to swing and thrust the knife at Max. Max manages to pull the first knife out of the tree and after a short fight, Max manages to disarm her and points the knife at her face while proudly proclaiming "I guess I win again." Beaten for a third time, Miriya becomes emotionally despondent and her anger and hatred give way to sadness. She falls to her knees, and asks Max to kill her. Crying, Miriya believes she cannot live with the shame of being defeated and that her only option now to die by his hand. Yet despite everything that has just occurred, Max says that he could never harm her because she is so beautiful. Max and Miriya look into each other's eyes and Miriya realizes that the feelings she holds toward Max are not of hate but of love. The two, after seemingly floating in air towards each other, passionately kiss. Max wipes a tear from Miriya's cheek and, although he admits it sounds crazy, asks her to marry him. Miriya, with no idea what marriage is, accepts his proposal.

      stealth was a good movie.

Good acting parts don't grow on trees. Best to keep in the biz then have the public forget you. But if you really believe that these actors made such a bad decision then why didn't you put your name to the article?

No one can do Ray like Ray Charles. He did it with his piano and real voice. Today's popular vocalists in the music industry use pitch correction effects or they lip sing during live shows like Madonna at super bowl. It is really pathetic and it is fraud.

Gosh ~ I really loved the movie "CORE" A sci-fi it is wonderful but not fetched to far from the truth...I mean have you thought about this scenario that one particular country may be planning something like this? Ok...maybe not but maybe yes...is it impossible? Well, if they made a movie about an event like that then why couldn't it happen! The world is advancing in scientific technology that we have no idea how brilliant people are on this planet! Anyways, it is food for thought...it's a natural way of destruction of the planet, as the planet would destroy itself!
    • Hubba Bubba  •  3 months ago
Somewhat misleading as "Stealth" was actually filmed before "Ray" and rushed into post-production and released after the critical acclaim for "Ray". I wouldn't consider it a follow-up role due to that.

once upon a time ago, louis b mayer instituted the oscar as a blunt instrument (pride) against actors wanting more money and better conditions through incoming unions. not wanting both in his community (he was then the most powerful person in hollywood for several decades), he reasoned correctly that if you butter up the actors w/any kind of recognition, they will be so busy patting themselves on the back they will forget any of the other possible detriments to mayer's community. what started out as a supper w/ speacjes and awards has now blossomed into a scene better than a three ring circus. if he was still here, mayer would be in his glory and flavor. three ring circus? he'd be the master of ceremonies.

actors, male or female, who win this dubious honor may not make logical follow up choices but then we aren't talking about rocket science, are we? in defense of their choices, it is also a paycheck, good roles or not. old time actors took what was given them or go on suspension. today's actors take roles to keep in the public eye. some have even gone to the bad limit like taking roles that mirror one to the other. some brave souls chance it and take roles that are really off the radar but they are few and in between. take it easy on them. keep in mind this is all pop corn whether in theaters or home . a movie is a movie. some you like and others you don't. by the way, i thought foxx was good in 'dream girls'. he's an ok actor ; nothing like cheadle or washington but foxx doesn't take roles the others do. as my dearly sainted mother would say, " what is one man's meat is another man's poison". bon apetite!

stealth was filmed before ray and after Jamie got famous for ray they released the crappy stealth movie. Really yahoo shame shame on you.
    • Dereck V  •  Chicago, Illinois  •  3 months ago
This whole list is stupid because actors have little control over when a movie is released. A myriad number of decisions affect a release date and what award a 'star' recently won isn't a factor.

I've never liked Jamie Foxx. It has nothing to do with color. He's just a lousy actor and a mediocre musician and singer. He always comes off cocky and self absorbed in tv interviews. Ray was alright, but any black guy with some knowledge of piano could've pulled it off. After Michael Jackson died he proclaimed, "He belonged to us", meaning black people. My response was, you can have him. He's an idiot.
