When Bale was 13-years-old, director Steven Spielberg cast him in the World War II prison camp drama “Empire of the Sun” (1987), after considering more than 4,000 young actors for the critical role of Jamie Graham. Bale won awards and accolades for his work, and has been in the public eye ever since. Though he won the 2011 Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Dicky Eklund in David O.
