more “Lords of Dogtown” – Director Catherine Hardwicke’s 2005 biopic about the Z-Boys, a group of California skateboarders who helped popularize the sport, featured Ledger in the role of their cantankerous manager and board designer Skip Engblom. While the film was not very well received, numerous critics lauded Ledger’s performance as the highlight of the film. Writer Joe Donnelly, a friend of the real Engblom, praised Ledger’s performance after the actor’s untimely death.
