Kristen Stewart reprises the role of Bella Swan in the next chapter of the "Twilight" saga. "New Moon" finds the clumsy and antisocial heroine on a wild streak after a long period of depression over her breakup with Edward. Along with speeding around in a motorcycle, Bella decides to dive off a cliff into the icy waters below because she hears Edward's voice whenever she places herself in danger. Stewart recently revealed that she won't be doing the stunt herself and that the fan-favorite pivotal moment will actually be done with CGI effects.

"Twilight" catapulted Robert Pattison into a megastar, capturing the hearts of many girls all over the world, so it's no surprise that the actor (along with his co-star Kristen Stewart) signed up for "New Moon" almost immediately after the successful release of "Twilight." One of the reasons why many Team Edward devotees are not huge fans of the second novel is because the character of Edward is predominantly absent for the first half of "New Moon." But fear not, because Edward reemerges right when the action starts in Italy.

Taylor Lautner's transition to "New Moon" was not as smooth as Stewart's or Pattinson's. Ever since the baby-faced actor landed the "Twilight" gig, some have insisted that he wasn't physically appropriate for the role of Jacob Black, even though Jacob was a minor character in "Twilight." Conversely, Jacob has a huge presence in "New Moon," so when the second film was green-lit, Lautner found that he had to prove to the studio, Stephenie Meyer, and the fans that he could portray a character going through a supernatural maturation of both circumstance and appearance. Though actor Michael Copon publicly pushed for the role when word was out that Lautner may not be involved, fans banded together and united in support of Lautner, creating several Internet protests like "I reject Michael Copon as Jacob Black: Save Taylor NOW!" After hitting the gym religiously and packing on 30 pounds of muscle, Lautner got the role again, to the relief of Team Jacob and the cast.

Superstar Dakota Fanning will be playing the Italian Volturi vampire Jane in "New Moon," marking the accomplished actress's first villainous role. The Volturi is the largest and most powerful coven of vampires. They are the keepers and enforcers of the laws of the vampire world with
the main goal of keeping the secret of vampires away from humans. The Volturi is led by three ancient vampires, but vampires with special abilities are invited to join the guard. Jane is a dark, sadistic young member of the Volturi guard who is especially valued by the Volturi leaders for being able to trick victims into thinking they are in excruciating pain without actually hurting them.

Sixteen-year-old Cameron Bright will be adding "New Moon" to his already extensive list of film credits ("Godsend," "The Butterfly Effect," "X-Men: The Last Stand," just to name a few). Bright will star as Alec, the twin brother of Dakota Fanning's Jane. Like his sister Jane, Alec is a highly-ranked guard in the Volturi coven largely due to his extreme supernatural power of completely ending a person's sensory experience. Alec remits a hazy mist which results in making an opponent blind, deaf, or numb to feelings, and thereby readying them for the kill.
Photo by Mike Marsland, WireImageMichael Sheen - Aro
Off the heels of his portrayal of David Frost in last year's
Oscar-nominated Frost/Nixon, Michael Sheen will take on the role of Aro, the head vampire of the Volturi. The sinister and power-hungry Aro possesses the power of extreme strength, speed and intensified senses. Aro is able to read the minds of people once he makes
physical contact with them. Aro has very pale skin, long black hair, and seems to float when he walks, and most notably, his eyes are an unsettling milky red. Sheen is also well-recognized as Lucian, the leader of the werewolves in the "Underworld" franchise, which makes him a controversial pick to be a part of "Twilight."

British actor Jamie Campbell-Bower (RocknRolla and Sweeney Todd) will play Volturi vamp Caius in "New Moon." Caius, along with Aro and Marcus, acts as a guardian (and even the unofficial royalty) of the vampire world. He has pale, thin skin like an onion peel with hair as stark-white as his face color. He too appears to be floating when he moves, like Aro and Marcus.
Photo by David Livingston, Getty ImagesAshley Greene - Alice Cullen
Ashley Greene will continue in the role of Alice Cullen in "New Moon." Alice is described in the books as being pixie-like at 4'10" with short, spiky, black hair. Although Greene doesn't quite fit into that description, she has embraced the character and, with a larger part in
"New Moon," fans are excited to see more of Alice. In "New Moon," Alice's devotion and friendship with Bella is furthered. We'll also get to see Alice behind the wheel racing through the streets of Italy in an expensive Italian speedster.
Photo by Chris Polk, Film MagicPeter Facinelli - Carlisle Cullen
Peter Facinelli continues his portrayal of Carlisle Cullen, a doctor, fatherly figure, and coven leader, in "New Moon." Carlisle's background story is explored in the second novel, where we learn of his origins and that he lived with the Volturi as a guest. The Volturi enjoyed his company and tried to persuade him to forgo his "vegetarian" diet, but
because of his reverence of human life and lack of a special talent, the Volturi did not try to stop him when he decided to leave for the New World.

Elizabeth Reaser returns as Esme Cullen, the matriarch of the Cullen family. Esme's motherly nature and unending compassion continues into "New Moon."
Photo by Jon Kopaloff, Film MagicNikki Reed - Rosalie Hale
Perhaps one of the more physically difficult roles to portray, Rosalie Hale is described as the most beautiful woman in the world, and though she received a lot of flak for it, Nikki Reed will reprise the role in "New Moon." Fans complained that Reed didn't look like Rosalie and the white makeup and dyed blonde hair only made it worse. Reed has said that she won't be dyeing her hair in the next installment of "Twilight," instead opting for a wig, but promises the overall look of the Cullens will be much improved. And as far as the character of Rosalie, well, she'll continue to hate and despise Bella in "New Moon."
Photo by Alberto E. Rodriguez, Getty ImagesJackson Rathbone - Jasper Hale
Jackson Rathbone will again play Jasper Hale for "New Moon." Jasper has the ability to manipulate the emotions of those around him and is the one member of the Cullen family who struggles with the vegetarian lifestyle. His uncontrollable desire for human blood is the catalyst for
Edward's decision to break up with Bella at the beginning of "New Moon." After Belle gets a paper cut, Jasper attacks her. Although Bella understands it was only an accident, Edward refuses to put her life in danger and leaves Forks as a means of protecting her.
Photo by Isaac Brekken, WireImageKellan Lutz - Emmett Cullen
Kellan Lutz is more than happy to reprise the role of Emmett Cullen in "New Moon," even though he's not very fond of the contacts he has to wear for the part. In "Twilight," Emmett was bit wary of Edward's relationship with Bella, but by "New Moon," he warms up to her, poking
fun of her klutziness like a brother would tease his sister.
Photo by Jeffrey Mayer, WireImageRachelle LeFevre - Victoria
Rachelle LeFevre reprises the role of Victoria in "New Moon," but this time she's mad and out for revenge. In "Twilight," her coven leader and lover James was killed by the Cullens and so in "New Moon," she plots to kill Bella. Unfortunately for the red-haired nomad, she'll not only have
to deal with the vampires, but also a pack of werewolves set on protecting Bella.
Photo by Alberto E. Rodriguez, Getty ImagesEdi Gathegi - Laurent
Even though Edi Gathegi continues playing the role of Laurent in "New Moon," his "Twilight" journey will end with this second movie because his character is killed. After James dies, Laurent joins another coven but returns to Forks as a favor to Victoria. During his visit, Laurent
stumbles upon Bella and tries to kill her but fails and is ambushed by the Quileute werewolves.
Photo by Jeffrey Mayer, WireImageBilly Burke - Charlie Swan
One of the highlights of the "Twilight" film was the relationship between Bella and her father, Charlie Swan. Fans are glad that Billy Burke will reprise the role of Charlie in "New Moon." Just starting to get accustomed to having his daughter live with him, Charlie goes through a difficult time when Bella falls into a deep state of depression after
Edward leaves her. Hence, Charlie is not a fan of Edward and makes it crystal clear that he'd rather Bella choose Jacob.
Photo by Steve Granitz, WireImageGil Birmingham - Billy Black
Gil Birmingham returns as Billy Black in "New Moon." Billy is Jacob's father, Charlie's best friend, and an elder of the Quileute tribe and a direct descendant of Ephraim Black, the last Quileute chief. The wheelchair-bound elder knows the tales and origins of the Quileutes and their werewolf shape-shifting abilities, but is not a werewolf himself.
He likes Bella, but because of the history between Quileutes and vampires and their pact, he doesn't approve of her fondness for Edward and the other Cullens. While Jacob experiences a sudden growth spurt and eventual transformation to a werewolf, Billy tries to hide the secret
from Bella.
Photo by Kevin Winter, Getty ImagesMichael Welch - Mike Newton
Michael Welch plays Mike Newton once again for the "Twilight" sequel. Mike continues to a hold a torch for Bella in "New Moon." Though Edward is out of the picture, Jacob is in, and Mike soon finds himself competing for her affections and attention. Poor Mike. He'll never win over Bella!
Photo by Michael Bezjian, WireImageAnna Kendrick - Jessica Stanley
Even though the character was only a minor part, many fans raved over Anna Kendrick's portrayal of Jessica Stanley in "Twilight," so it comes as no surprise that she'll return in "New Moon." Jessica was the first to befriend Bella, but is secretly jealous of all the attention Bella
gets, especially from Mike Newton. In "New Moon," the two friends have a falling out due to Bella's depression over Edward's abrupt departure.
Photo by Vince Bucci, Getty ImagesChristian Serratos - Angela Weber
Christian Serratos plays Angela Weber in both "Twilight" and "New Moon." As Bella is closer to her vampire and werewolf friends than her human ones, we don't get to see much of the shy Angela, but we do know that she is kind and genuinely cares about Bella.
Photo by Jon Kopaloff, Film MagicJustin Chon - Eric Yorkie
Justin Chon returns as Eric Yorkie in "New Moon." He was another Bella suitor in "Twilight," but after it becomes obvious that Bella only has eyes for Edward, Eric moves on. We don't see much of Eric in the second book, so we can safely assume that Justin's role in the next movie will be very minor.
Photo by Stephen Lovekin, WireImageGraham Greene - Harry Clearwater
Predominantly known for his Oscar-nominated role in "Dances With Wolves," Graham Greene will take on the role of Harry Clearwater in "New Moon." Harry is an elder of the Quileute tribe and father to Seth and Leah. Harry's part in "New Moon" is rather small, but still significant as his and Charlie's shared love of fishing is what keeps Charlie safe and away from Victoria's wrath. Sadly, Harry passes away early on in "New Moon" from a heart attack.
Photo by Amy Sussman, Getty ImagesNoot Seear - Heidi
Fashion model Noot Seear is set to play the Volturi vixen Heidi in "New Moon." Like Rosalie, Heidi is exceptionally beautiful. She's described as statuesque with perfectly shiny hair, long legs, and intense, violet eyes. Heidi's unforgettable beauty and power to create illusions of someone's desires allows her to be the Volturi's "fisher" she lures and seduces humans and brings them to her coven for feeding. "90210's" AnnaLynne McCord was previously considered for the role of Heidi, but later told OK! Magazine that her busy schedule didn't allow her the opportunity.
