Too Cute to Be Real

SHOW THUMBNAILS

Between Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, The Tale of Despereaux, and Bolt, there are a lot of family films about cute animated critters to choose from this holiday season. With that in mind, we've put together a gallery of the movies' most adorable animated animals.

Photo by Dreamworks, Everett CollectionMORT -- MADAGASCAR

Even for a lemur, mouse-like Mort is completely adorable. He's also 35 years old.

Photo by DreamworksPUSS IN BOOTS -- SHREK 2

Puss in Boots can be daring and fearless in a duel, but when his back is against the wall, he can also look adorably disarming.

Photo by DreamworksPO -- KUNG FU PANDA

Po might be chubby and clumsy, but he's a panda so that automatically makes him cute. And if you have a problem with that, he can throw down with a Wuxi Finger Hold.

Photo by Walt DisneyLADY - LADY AND THE TRAMP

Lady inspired a generation of young girls to think sharing a strand of spaghetti with their beaus was the height of romance.

Photo by Walt DisneyCHICKEN LITTLE -- CHICKEN LITTLE

This bespectacled chick with the head the size of a melon may either have paranoid delusions of the sky falling or he may have uncovered an alien invasion. You be the judge.

Photo by Walt DisneyREMY -- RATATOUILLE

Rats are rarely cute and even more rarely do they run gourmet restaurants, but then again Remy is no ordinary rat.

Photo by 20th Century FoxVERNE THE TURTLE - OVER THE HEDGE

Verne is the only reptile on the list, which just goes to show that you don't have to have fur to be cute.

Photo by Walt DisneyTHUMPER -- BAMBI

Bambi's thumping buddy is so cute that it almost makes up the scarring traumas found later in the movie.

Photo by 20th Century Fox, Everett CollectionSCRAT -- ICE AGE

Never get in between this so-ugly-he's-cute squirrel and his precious acorn.

Photo by 50th Street Films, Everett CollectionTOTORO - MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO

He's huge, he's furry, he's the King of the Forest, and he is the best creature to have around on a rainy night at the bus stop.

Photo by Walt DisneyPIGLET -- WINNIE THE POOH

Whether hunting Woozles or picking out birthday presents for the most depressed donkey on the planet, Piglet is the best sidekick you could ask for. Especially if you're an easily confused, honey-obsessed bear.

Photo by Warner BrothersMUMBLE - HAPPY FEET

Mumble -- that adorable fluff ball misfit -- may not be able to sing the way all other penguins can, but he can dance like Kevin Bacon in Footloose.

Photo by Walt DisneyDOT - A BUG'S LIFE

Never mind those creepy-crawlies living behind your kitchen sink. Even insects can look cute when given the Pixar treatment.

Photo by Walt DisneyLITTLE SIMBA -- THE LION KING

According to the circle of life, we are born, grow up, and die. But even future kings of Pride Rock have their cute moments, especially while being dangled aloft by a baboon.

Photo by Walt DisneyNEMO - FINDING NEMO

Fish? They can be vibrantly colored and pleasant to look at, but you don't always think of them as cute. But tiny little Nemo -- with his big eyes, bright smile, and irrepressible optimism -- is one adorable fish.

Photo by Walt DisneyDUMBO - DUMBO

Walt Disney's personal favorite was this tale about an adorable little elephant with the big ears.

Photo by Universal PicturesCURIOUS GEORGE - CURIOUS GEORGE

Everyone's favorite curious primate may be short on common sense but long on cuteness. Fortunately, he has The Man in the Yellow Hat to clean up his messes.

Photo by Buena Vista, Everett CollectionJIJI - KIKI'S DELIVERY SERVICE

Jiji is a magical black cat, and an indispensable companion for a fledgling witch striking out on her own.

Photo by DreamworksTHE BUNNIES -- WALLACE AND GROMIT

Even though they have an annoying habit of eating prized giant vegetables, the bunnies in Wallace and Gromit's feature film are too cute to shoot. Best use a giant eco-friendly vacuum instead.

Photo by Walt Disney, Everett CollectionMICKEY MOUSE - FANTASIA

Though Mickey is a lazy apprentice and a terrible sorcerer, he is -- fortunately -- adorable. No doubt, it's the only thing that keeps his master from turning him into a frog.

  • What the hell is wrong with yahoo. And I know this doesn't apply to this article as much, but what is with all the stupid cat videos, pictures. Fist of all Yahoo, you're kind of lagging behind, the stupid cat craze of the internet started a while back and you bringing it back isn't helping. If i see one more f-ing story or a picture or a video of a "cute"
