Fashion Report Card: Early Summer 2009

SHOW THUMBNAILS

In Hollywood, early summer means big movies which means big premieres. And like summer movies, some of the red carpet fashion choices prove to be blockbusters, while others prove to be bombs. Click ahead and see.

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" Berlin premiere
Grade: A

Megan Fox has been burning up the internet in recent months with one red carpet show-stopper after another, but she topped herself with this Roberto Cavalli creation, complete with thigh high skirt slit and jeweled snake cut out.

Photo by Jeffrey Mayer, WireImageHeather Graham
"The Hangover" LA premiere
Grade: A

Heather looks fabulous in this spaghetti strap fire-engine red Dolce & Gabbana number.

Photo by Andrew H. Walker, Getty ImagesJennifer Aniston
"Management" NY premiere
Grade: D

This tight-fitting gray number might have worked if it weren't paired with gray tights and gray booties. The result is a complete snooze.

Photo by Jeffrey Mayer, WireImageMoon Bloodgood
"Terminator Salvation" LA premiere
Grade: D

"Terminator" star Moon Bloodgood looks a bit like a riverboat showgirl in bicycle shorts in the lace and sequin mess.

Photo by Jason Merritt, Getty ImagesSandra Bullock
"The Proposal" LA premiere
Grade: B

Sandra's dress might be an Alexander McQueen, but bunching in the crotch area is never a good look.

Photo by Jeffrey Mayer, WireImageBradley Cooper
"The Hangover" LA premiere
Grade: B+

This is an impeccably tailored three-piece pinstripe suit, and Bradley keeps it from looking stuffy by foregoing neckwear. He might have considered a shave, though.

Photo by Andrew Ross, Getty ImagesAndie MacDowell
Shanghai International Film Festival
Grade: C+

Though this is a great color for Ms. MacDowell, the flower prints are more than a bit distracting. She looks like she should be throwing a luau instead of walking the red carpet.

Photo by Michael Tran, Film MagicEva Mendes
"The Hangover" LA premiere
Grade: D+

Eva looks like rolled out of bed and walked straight onto the red carpet in her nightgown.

Photo by David Livingston, WireImageTaraji P. Henson
"The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3" LA premiere
Grade: D

Taraji looks like she's going to a church picnic in this matronly mint mess.

Photo by Andrew Ross, Getty ImagesHalle Berry
Shanghai International Film Festival
Grade: A

Halle Berry looked magnificent in this lilac-colored Marchesa gown.

Photo by Jeffrey Mayer, WireImageAlison Lohman
"Drag Me to Hell" LA Premiere
Grade: F

"Drag Me to Hell" star Alison Lohman should probably fire her fashion consultant. Everything from the cut and color of this lemon silk Dior gown to the harsh hue of her lipstick fails to flatter.

Photo by Mark Sullivan, WireImageBai Ling
"Drag Me to Hell" LA premiere
Grade: D-

Bai Ling is looking less horrid than usual in this plunging neckline lilac mini/chain mail chest piece combo. Sadly, that's not saying much.

Photo by Charles Eshelman, Film MagicEvan Rachel Wood
"Whatever Works" NY premiere
Grade: A-

This quilted black Jean Paul Gaultier dress clearly works for "Whatever Works" star Evan Rachel Wood.

Photo by Frazer Harrison, Getty ImagesLynn Collins
Crystal + Lucy Awards
Grade: D

Unless you play guitar for "Guns n' Roses," top hats are generally not a good idea.

Photo by John Shearer, WireImageMalin Akerman
"The Proposal" LA premiere
Grade: F

Malin fails to flaunt her fine figure in this wrinkly hairdresser's smock. The shoes would be cuter without the bat wings.

Photo by Jordan Strauss, WireImageLeslie Mann
Spike TV Guys Choice Awards
Grade: C-

At 37, Leslie Mann is still looking good, but this cheap '80s prom dress is not age-appropriate.

Photo by Jordan Strauss, WireImageMichelle Monaghan
"Up" LA premiere
Grade: C+

The usually adorable Michelle Monaghan looks like a box of melted crayons in this Peter Som print dress.

Photo by Kristian Dowling, Getty ImagesAnna Friel
"Land of the Lost" LA Premiere
Grade: C-

"Land of the Lost" star Anna looks lost in this thigh-high slit potato sack with matching Flintstones necklace.

Photo by Junko Kimura, Getty ImagesIsabel Lucas
"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" Tokyo premiere
Grade: B+

"Transformers" star Isabel Lucas showed a bit of leg in this dove gray Christian Dior mini.

Photo by Jim Spellman, WireImageJuno Temple
"Year One" LA premiere
Grade: F

"Year One" star Juno Temple looks unsightly in her unruly mane, monster makeup and this Morticia Addams knock-off.

Photo by Kevin Winter, Getty ImagesMarion Cotillard
"Public Enemies" Chicago premiere
Grade: B

Marion looks pretty but doesn't exactly "wow" in this pink strapless Dior dress.

Photo by Dee Cercone, Everett CollectionZoe Saldana
"Star Trek" LA Premiere
Grade: B+

Lt. Uhuru looks out of this world at the L.A. "Star Trek" premiere in a black and gray beaded Pucci number.

Photo by Kristian Dowling, Getty ImagesChristina Ricci
Los Angeles Film Festival "Paper Man" premiere
Grade: B-

"Speed Racer" star Christina Ricci was definitely feeling the breeze in this lavender frock.

Photo by Stephen Lovekin, Getty ImagesKate Winslet
"Away We Go" NY premiere
Grade: B-

This Stella McCartney number either looks like the height of couture sophistication or like very expensive baseball jersey.

Photo by Gareth Cattermole, Getty ImagesSacha Baron Cohen
"Bruno" UK premiere
Grade: A or F, Not really sure

Sacha Baron Cohen makes an impression in this flamboyant Palace guard outfit complete with hot pants, baton, and towering bear-fur hat.
