Daniel Radcliffe as poet Allen Ginsberg? "Brilliant," as Harry Potter himself might say. Radcliffe continues to prove there's plenty of life after Hogwarts with this biographical drama set at Columbia University in 1944, where Ginsberg's whirlwind infatuation with his classmate, Lucien Carr (Dane DeHaan), introduces him to a bohemian world frequented by William Burroughs (Ben Foster, more terrific casting) and Jack Kerouac (Jack Huston). The murder of David Kammerer (Michael C. Hall), an outsider hopelessly in love with Carr, forges a bond among the young artists and gives birth to what would become known as the Beat Generation. Sundance alum Elizabeth Olsen ("Martha Marcy May Marlene") plays Edie Parker, fellow writer and Kerouac's first wife.
