Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the go-to thespian for some of 2012's most satisfying action romps (including "The Dark Knight Rises," "Looper," and, yes, "Premium Rush"), makes his writing and directing debut with this dark comedy about a modern-day porn-addicted gigolo (played by the filmmaker himself) who suddenly experiences a crisis of conscience and sets out to become a better person. Gordon-Levitt has certainly kept talented company over the years, having worked with such A-list directors as Christopher Nolan, Rian Johnson, and Steven Spielberg, so there's no reason to think he didn't pick up some of their skills at least via osmosis. He's also scored a terrific supporting cast, including Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Brie Larson, and — heh heh — Tony Danza. less
