Biography
With longtime collaborator Sonya Levien, he received a WGA nomination for "The Great Caruso" (1951) and an Oscar for "Interrupted Melody" (1955). He also adapted the Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical "Oklahoma!" (1955) for the screen and wrote many of the Academy Awards shows during the 1970s.
