Biography
When "Jackass" was cancelled in 2002, Steve-O and Chris Pontius were given their own spin-off "Wildboyz" (MTV, 2003-06), in which they built on their reputations by braving pranks and stunts performed with wild animals across the globe. Steve-O appeared in big screen versions of his first MTV series, "Jackass: The Movie" (2002) and "Jackass: Number 2" (2004) in between numerous run-ins with the law over disorderly conduct, obscenity and cocaine possession. He returned to the small screen with "Dr. Steve-O" (USA, 2007), a reality show where Steve-O sought to "toughen up" guys who needed it, but the following year - after a string of drunken talk show appearances that concerned even those used to Steve-O's unpredictable and outrageous behavior - his close friends committed him to a mental health center where he admitted to drug and emotional problems and underwent lengthy treatment. He was noticeably absent from the public eye during 2008, but Steve-O reentered the reality arena the following year as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC, 2005- ) before hitting the big screen later that year in the sequel "Jackass 3" (2009).
