He was nominated for a Golden Globe for his breakout role in the miniseries "Rich Man, Poor Man" (ABC, 1975) and went on to enjoy box office success with "North Dallas Forty" (1979) and the huge action-comedy hit "48 Hours" (1982), one of his most recognized roles.
