R. Aldo before graduating to director of photography in 1955. Rotunno became one of Europe's leading cinematographers in the 1960s, with his work ranging from the epic, operatic compositions of Visconti's "The Leopard" (1963) to the daguerreotype-influenced style of Monicelli's "The Organizer" (1963).
