This pretty, quirky "performance artist" has also branched out into more mainstream films and television. Arriving in New York in 1978, Magnuson co-founded Club 57, the "neo-Dada cabaret", where she and her collaborators (such as Eric Bogosian and Joey Arias) made a name for themselves with their sly brand of comic social commentary--her tribute to Muzak, for instance, which was held in an elevator.
