UTA Signs 'Toy's House' Star Nick Robinson (Exclusive)

Nick Robinson, star of Sundance entry "Toy's House," has signed with UTA just ahead of the annual film festival, two individuals with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap.

Robinson, a 17-year-old from Seattle, stars as Ryder Scanlon on ABC Family's "Melissa & Joey" and guest starred on the most recent season of HBO's "Boardwalk Empire."

Agencies have been pursuing the actor thanks to the buzz surrounding his performance in "Toy's House," which premieres on Saturday. In the film, Robinson plays Joe Toy, one of three disillusioned teenage boys who flee the suburbs to build a makeshift home in the woods.

Gabriel Basso of "The Big C" and Moises Arias of "Hannah Montana" play the other two boys, while Nick Offerman, Alison Brie and Megan Mullally also co-star.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts directed the film, his feature debut, from a script by Chris Galletta that appeared on the 2009 Black List.

Principato-Young manages Robinson, and Savage represents him. The agencies also represent "ABC Family" star-turned-leading lady Shailene Woodley ("The Descendants"), who is at Paradigm and has her own movie debuting at Sundance. Savage's Stella Alex, who handles kids, splits duties with the agent from the larger shop.

This year's Sundance festival runs from Thursday through Jan. 27.
