Smash Star Katharine McPhee Flaunts Sexy Bikini Body

All eyes are on Katharine McPhee.

As the star of the new NBC hit Smash, the 27-year-old singer-turned-actress knows she needs to be in peak physical condition. Most days, she spends five hours in dance rehearsal. "I feel it in my thighs and calves, but it's so stop-and-go, I miss my real workout," McPhee tells the March issue of Self.

When the American Idol runner-up does get a chance to hit the gym, she works with trainer Oscar Smith, who devised a one-hour plan that burns 800-1,000 calories per session.

Under Smith's instruction, McPhee begins with a five-minute warm-up run on the treadmill at 6 mph, followed by total-body stretches to loosen up. Next, she does 10 jumping jacks and 10 push-ups. She then begins an upper-body circuit using 5-pound weights, performing 10 one-arm rows, 10 lateral side rises, 10 front raises and 10 bicep curls to an overhead press.

McPhee is then required to do five push-ups and five burpees, followed by 30 seconds of alternating jump lunges. She then runs up and down a flight of stairs twice. The NBC star -- married to Nick Cokas since 2008 -- then pedals on a stationary bike for five minutes at resistance 10 or 15.

Smith then has McPhee perform 10 jumping jacks and 10 push-ups before beginning an abs circuit that includes crunches, full sit-ups and planking. After a three-minute run on the treadmill at 7 mph, McPhee repeats the abs circuit and does 10 additional jumping jacks and 10 more push-ups.

Next up: assisted pull-ups (three sets of 10 reps) followed by three minutes jumping rope. McPhee then repeats the upper-body circuit, jumps rope for another three minutes, planks for 30 seconds and repeats her stair run. The Smash star must then complete three sets of six pull-ups, followed by three minutes on a stationary bike at resistance 10. To finish up, McPhee does 10 push-ups and spends three minutes jumping rope.

PHOTOS: What to watch on TV this winter

If McPhee's hot body doesn't get her noticed, perhaps starting a fake feud will. "Megan Hilty, Debra Messing and Anjelica Huston, my costars, are amazing. Debra has an infectious laugh, and Nena, my dog, likes to sit on Anjelica's lap," she tells Self. "It would be good press if we hated each other, but we don't. Megan and I joke that we should make a fight up. We'd be on the cover of Us Weekly."

The first time I saw Ms. McPhee, I thought she was absolutely drop-dead gorgeous. It's about time she got some recognition. Stunningly beautiful girl.
