Sarah Jessica Parker Talks 'Daunting' 'Lovelace' Role

Sarah Jessica Parker says stepping in for Demi Moore in "Lovelace" was a challenge in many ways.

"It was difficult because, obviously, the circumstances are not ideal," the actress told Access Hollywood correspondent Jill Martin at the amfAR New York Gala on Wednesday night, when asked about her cameo role of feminist activist Gloria Steinem.

The "Sex and The City" star took over for Demi, who was forced to drop out after she sought treatment for her health and exhaustion issues.

"I obviously conveyed that to the filmmakers [and] that I was aware and I was sorry for the reasons that they had to reach out to me," the 46-year-old actress explained. "Also, of course, the somewhat daunting task of playing somebody with very little time [to prepare,] who was obviously such an important person in the women's movement, but also played such a pivotal role in Linda's life."

Adding, "And to do it well and properly and not an impersonation, but rather a complete person with not a lot of screen time and not a lot of preparation."

The Amanda Seyfried-fronted project - which has yet to announce a release date - also stars Sharon Stone, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley, Hank Azaria, Robert Patrick, Bobby Cannavale and Chris Noth.

This is bound to be one singularly boring picture. I don't know why an actress would touch it with a ten foot pole, so to speak. .

Ms. Parkers equine features do not lend themselves to the square-jawed Ms. Steinem. But, a cameo is a cameo and paycheck is a paycheck.

The consumers of a certain genre seem unable to broaden their tastes in film.

For those of you making anaconda and other childish references to SJP - Amanda Seyfried is playing Linda Lovelace. However, Victoria has the right of it I'm not sure SJP is the right fit for Gloria Steinem.

Is this some sort of trick casting or will other cast members also be horses?

It was said that Richard Nixon watched the movie more than a dozen times; he finally got it down pat.

Mathew Broderick must be one Lucky Guy, if she do what Linda Lovelace could do. It is getting my 80 year old heart excited.

Sarah Jessica Parker is playing Gloria Steinem in the movie. And for those who remember the real Linda Lovelace, she wan't much to look at either!

I read an interview of Gloria Steinem a while back. She made the same serious (albeit tiresome, 70s time-warp) statements as ever, but at the end the interviewer asked what she would like to do that she's never done. Miss G said: "go live with the elephants." The dreams of a 10-year old little lonely girl, which is what Miss G has always been.
