    MTV to Give Back to Jersey Shore with Star-Studded 'Restore the Shore' Reverse Telethon

    MTV made six seasons worth of mega profits from Jersey Shore, and now, the network is pitching in to help heal the Jersey Shore.

    Beginning Thursday at 4 p.m. EST, celebrities like Jay Leno, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears and Adam Levine will be personally calling donors who contribute to the “Restore the Shore” Fund via Indiegogo at RestoretheShore.MTV.com or through a $10 donation made by texting SHORE to 85944. All funds will benefit the boardwalk and its surrounding residents through natural disaster nonprofit, Architecture for Humanity.

    Alongside cast members of Jersey Shore and other MTV series, stars participating in the telethon include One Direction, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Pharrell, P!nk, Demi Lovato, Kim Kardashian, Ne-Yo, Bruno Mars, No Doubt, fun., The Jonas Brothers, Ludacris, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, Carson Daly, Ashley Greene, Dakota Fanning, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Jay Leno and more.

    MTV will also air the Jersey Shore “Restore the Shore” television special, featuring the cast’s post-hurricane visit to the beloved boardwalk, plus musical performances by American Idol winner Phillip Phillips and Gym Class Heroes with Oh Land. The one-hour broadcast will also be available to the MTV Radio Network and over 1,500 radio stations nationwide.

    Online crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, in conjunction with PayPal, will waive all donation fees.

    The MTV telethon tails the success of NBC's one-hour fundraiser on Nov. 2, collecting $23 million, and ABC's "Day of Giving" on Nov. 5, which raised nearly $17 million. Both televised events collected funds for the American Red Cross to aid those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

    “Restore the Shore” airs on MTV at 11 p.m. EST, with a delayed broadcast on PST.
