Lisa Niemi: Seeing Patrick Swayze's Wax Figure Unveiled At Madame Tussauds Is 'Bittersweet'

Lisa Niemi is happy her late husband, Patrick Swayze, has been immortalized in wax at Madame Tussauds Hollywood, two years after his death at the age of 57.

This week, Madame Tussauds unveiled its likeness of the actor, featuring him in one of his most famous roles - as Johnny Castle in "Dirty Dancing" -- and Lisa said they got his physique and looks just right.

"He had this kind of mischievous, but confident look... and things like his core [were] very, very strong and they worked on his arms more, so it's very detailed," Lisa told Access Hollywood on Tuesday. "There's a lot of work that goes into this."

The statue is perched on a faux log, recreating one of the iconic scenes from "Dirty Dancing," which sees Swayze's character seduce "Baby," played by Jennifer Grey.

For the unveiling, Lisa joined her husband's wax doppelganger on the log -- just like "Baby" and Johnny once did.

Lisa was impressed with by the statue, but called seeing it, "bittersweet."

"In a way, it's really wonderful and exciting and everyone's in such a good mood here, and it's gonna be so fun to have this figure in the museum here, and at the same time it's bittersweet," she said. "I wish he were here, really here."

She's still mending her heart, poor thing. Sad and, at the same time, a wonderful tribute.

I really wish they'd air the mini-series North & South again, which is where Patrick first became widely known. I became devoted fan then, before many people posting here were born & many years before he did Red Dawn, Dirty Dancing & Road House.

Actual Red Dawn (1984) came out a year before North & South.

I agree.I was still young then and didnt really apreciate it until I got a little older and after reading the book.I cant think of anything he was in that I didnt like.I even came around to like the very chick flick Ghost.

Bless your heart, Lisa. This is a wonderful tribute, they did a great job on the Patrick Swayze figure. I can certainly imagine it being bittersweet. You will see him again one day, because he is your soul mate. Until then, God Bless.

I can only say to Her - when things like this happen - and it cannot be changed - I look to these simple words composed by Dr. Seuss :

" Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened "

Logic dictates that since it cannot be changed - and life is a linear "timeline" - the past cannot be relived - so be happy - find love and/or meaning again if you can - as that is all we have - this moment right now.

How wonderful that they have done this and that Lisa can still see her man. Mine died 10 years ago and I would give anything to see him again, even in wax. Love to Lisa and know that Patrick's fans are keeping you in their hearts.

Patrick was one of my favorite actors. My heart goes out to Lisa Niemi. I lost my mother to Pancreatic Cancer too. Rest in Peace Patrick.

I know. He did the same thing as Steve Job. (Apple Ceo) Sadly, it's hard to get rid off the cancer. Patrick was my favorite to play.."Ghost" Good actor.

James I am very sorry about your loss. My mother passed away last year from the same cancer. It's a horrible way to go. My mother was the strongest person I know and to see her waste away to nothing was devastating.
