Lionsgate Taps Evan Katz to Direct Comedy-Thriller ‘You’ll Be the Death of Me’

E.L. “Evan” Katz will direct comedy-thriller “You’ll Be the Death of Me” for Mandeville Pictures with Lionsgate distributing.

Mandeville’s Todd Lieberman will produce. Katz will direct from a script by Mark Hammer that tells the story of two single New Yorkers who find their budding romance complicated by the attention of a masked knife-wielding psychopath.

Katz directed 2013′s “Cheap Thrills,” starring Pat Healy, Ethan Embry, David Koechner and Sara Paxton, as his first feature. It sold to Drafthouse Films and won the audience award at South by Southwest.

Katz also directed a segment in the recent “ABCs of Death 2″ horror anthology.

Katz is repped by Gersh, manager Jeremy Platt and attorney Kim Stenton.

Correction: A previous version of this story conflated E.L. Katz with Evan Katz, a producer on “24.” We regret the error.
