A beaming Katy Perry was spotted sporting a new ring on her left ring finger after a Valentine's Day dinner with on-again beau John Mayer, sparking rumors that the pair may be engaged.

"[They're] not engaged," a source told People.
The gold ring - a Valentine's gift for Katy -- features a heart-shaped ruby and was designed by Daniel Gibbings, a jeweler/designer based in the pop star's hometown of Santa Barbara, Calif.

While John did not pop the question to Katy, a rep for the jeweler said the singer was "really super nice" while picking out the ring for his ladylove.
John, 35, and Katy, 27, first stepped out as a couple in August and recently attended President Obama's second inauguration together.
