Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz Form "Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League"

    Natural woman!

Embracing her curves is nothing new to Kate Winslet, but now the actress is taking an active stand against the pressure in Hollywood for women to undergo cosmetic surgery.

The 35-year-old actress told London's The Telegraph that she and fellow British Oscar-winners Emma Thompson and Rachel Weisz have formed what she describes as the "British Anti-Cosmetic Surgery League."

"I will never give in," she said. "It goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up and what I consider to be natural beauty."

While the women's resolve not to go under the knife is real, their league might be more of a way to speak out against ageism than an active organization.

"I am an actress, I don't want to freeze the expression of my face," Winslet said.

Thompson, 52, agreed. "I'm not fiddling about with myself," she exclaimed. "We're in this awful youth-driven thing now where everybody needs to look 30 at 60."

Newly-married Weisz, 41, said that people "who look too perfect don't look sexy or particularly beautiful."

Good for them - it gives me a tiny bit of hope that there are at least a FEW celebrity women out there who have self-respect. What they do inevitably trickles down to us "common" folks and over the last 10 years or so, the number of average, middle-class women getting plastic surgery has become disgusting. It embarrasses me to even share a gender with the type of vapid, feather-brained idiots who pay to be mutilated in the name of some plastic idea of beauty perpetuated by media lies. It's about time that someone spoke up for normal women who don't hate themselves.

That's because they have the MONEY and the TIME to not do what "normal" women have to do...duh! It's also GENES...the genes they were born with. I'm 48 and still get looks from guys in their 20's...I take care of my skin, drink lots of wine, beer and water...maybe that's the fountain of youth...who knows? Oh, and listen to loud rock 'n roll and exercise...

Does anyone really care if they get a face lift or not. When people are looking for work,
trying to feed their kids and keep their homes, this is about as trite as it gets.

Wow! May I join their club... I love my age and the way i look... every day I see another line, spot and age revealing thingy.. I earned them and intend to take them with me when I 'go'. You gals are brave, you have your fans to contend with, along with family... I think you rock~

In the hospital OR prep for non-elective surgery, while 3 nurses prepped me, in a mildly-exasperated state I said, "I really don't get elective surgery," the nurses thought that was pretty funny. surgery puts a person in a high-stress state for quite a long time. Not only is there the risk of not waking up again, blood clots, et al, but you have to heal for a prescribed length of time, and you might NOT heal. So adopting a non-elective surgery stance is an intelligent choice.
However, and this is a pretty big however, laser, Botox and fillers & all-the-way high-tech physical training options are not surgery so these people are still going to look better than everyone else without ever getting surgery. Not to take away from a good-looking person to begin with, but they can keep looking like a young version of themselves without ever choosing elective "surgery;" there is even a non-surgical face-lift now.

These women were born stunningly beautiful, and have lived the privileged lives that beautiful women are accorded. It's easy to be for natural beauty when you already have it, not everyone is so blessed and I don't think people who make the decision to have plastic surgery should be looked down on.
