Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough get up close and personal in their upcoming romance, "Safe Haven."
So, did the co-stars get the approval from each other's significant others prior to filming their steamy scenes?
"Yes, I did feel the need to seek approval from Ryan [Seacrest] before we started shooting the movie -- mostly out of respect for Ryan and the relationship," Josh told Access Hollywood at the "Safe Haven" premiere in Los Angeles, of seeking the OK from Julianne's beau ahead of the romance. "But it was rather awkward!"
Julianne didn't think of contacting Josh's wife, Fergie, until after her co-star asked Ryan for his permission.
"Once [Josh] did it, I was like, 'Oh shoot! should I call Fergie? Whoops!'" Julianne told Access with a laugh. "But no -- they're awesome. Fergie's amazing, so is Ryan, so... I mean, they haven't seen the movie yet, so we'll see!"
The blonde beauty also raved about working with her co-star on the movie (adapted for the screen from a Nicolas Sparks novel).
"[Working with Josh] was amazing. This literally was probably the best summer of my life," she said. "I mean, everybody on the set was so into making it the best movie possible. But yet having the ease and the patience that it takes to make a, almost like an indie movie with the love and joy that you put into that."
Catch Josh and Julianne in "Safe Haven" - in theaters on Valentine's Day.
