Jonah Hill 'Overwhelmed' By 'Moneyball' Supporting Actor Nomination

A few years ago, Jonah Hill played everyone's go-to sidekick in comedies like "Get Him to the Greek" and "Superbad," but from Tuesday, he is forever known as an Oscar nominee.

"I feel like I'm in a dream still," Jonah told Access Hollywood on Tuesday, just a short while after learning he had picked up a Best Supporting Actor nod for his work opposite Brad Pitt in "Moneyball." "I didn't sleep all night and then I watched it on TV and I've just been on the phone ever since... I'm really, really overwhelmed, I can't believe that this is my life right now."

Jonah made the successful leap from comedy to drama with baseball film and he's pleased that Oscar voters recognized his performance.

"To me, it's really amazing, because I think there's very few actors -- you know, Tom Hanks, Robin Williams -- I mean two of the most legendary ones to successfully transition from comedy to drama, being able to do both, and you know the fact that it is my second drama," an excited Jonah said. "And to get nominated for an Academy Award for it just gives me encouragement to keep making more dramas."

Brad reached out to Jonah on Tuesday morning, congratulating his fellow nominee.

"He just said he's really proud and excited and I felt the same way, you know," Jonah recounted, referring to Brad's Best Actor nomination. "And I loved '[The] Tree of Life,' his other film that got him nominated for Best Picture.

"Excuse me," Jonah added, pausing. "I'm very overwhelmed."

Actually, comedy is more difficult than drama. Ever see Streep try to do comedy?! She's f***ing horrible. I just hope this isn't the kiss of death for him. He's unusually good at comedy. I hope he doesn't start taking himself too seriously. He's looks like THAT, yet, he gets steady work, and starring roles in quality films. Don't lose too much weight, Jonah. You may have to put it back on.

He always makes me think of someone who could be a close friend. He seems like the guy next door. I'm happy for him! I rarely watch movies, but saw "Moneyball" last week and it really was good. I'm not a sports person much, but sports movies are almost always very good.

Jonah Hill is under-appreciated and taken for granted as 'the fat guy' but he is a real talent and deserves this honor. Rooting for you, Jonah!

Yay for Jonah Hill. I was hoping he'd get out of those Superbad type gigs. I knew he'd be able to do more.

For all you naysayers and haters out there, it is just as difficult to pull off a great comedic performance as it is a serious one. I do not think Melissa MCCarthy will win because of who she is up against, nor do I think Jonah will win since 90 percent of his work is humor and he is not taken seriously, but I am rooting for them both. Plus, sometimes the fatties have to get kudos for contributing just as much to the audience as the molded, fake personas some agent dreamed up.

Jonah Hill 'Overwhelmed' By 'Butterball' Supporting Actor Nomination

You know, I have nothing against Butterball here, but, he isn't THAT good.

Most all of his roles are just the exact same. Him and Michael Cena both are incapable of playing anything but what they always have.

In Hollywood you have to be either talented or Jewish. Well congrats on being one of the two Jonah.
