Jennifer Lawrence thanked MTV for helping her become a member of the film actor's union while accepting her statue for Outstanding Lead Actress at Sunday's Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Lawrence, who earned the honor for her fiery performance as a grieving widow in "Silver Linings Playbook," quickly explained that her first professional gig was a commercial spot for the cable channel's reality show "My Super Sweet 16."
Her early role as a spoiled rich girl has been preserved thanks to the magic of the Internet. In one spot, the future Katniss Everdeen, gets carried into a party on a chair, only to do a face-plant in front of her guests. In another, Lawrence is blowing out the candles on her cake when a mirror ball falls from the ceiling, sending icing and pastry cascading over her and the party-goers.
Yes, the part lacks the gravitas of the roles Lawrence has played in the likes of "Winter's Bone" and "The Hunger Games," but it did give her a chance to display some comedic chops. It also was something of a stretch, since she was being asked to play someone of driving age when she was still just 14.
Lawrence made it clear at Sunday's ceremony that she was grateful for the chance to earn her SAG card.
"I remember getting it in the mail, and it being the best day in my entire life, because it officially made me a professional actor," Lawrence said while accepting her prize.
