UPDATED: A rep for the actress has informed THR that the photo above was taken in July and that Lawrence has attended only one Dior show. The original story is below.
Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence wore a Christian Dior tie-dyed strapless gown to the recent Toronto Film Festival premiere of David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook.
She donned Dior again -- a navy sleeveless short dress --- at the film festival for the premiere of her Playbook costar Bradley Cooper’s new film, Place Beyond the Pines.
So it should come as no surprise that Lawrence -- wearing a pretty printed sundress by Dior -- was seated next to Harvey Weinstein, whose company is releasing Playbook, at the Dior Spring/Summer 2012 show in Paris this week.
Lawrence is going to The Ends of the Earth for Weinstein next year, starring in a love story penned by Argo scribe Chris Terrio, based on the true story of a powerful oil tycoon named Ernest Marland and his scandalous love affair with his adopted daughter -- also, his niece.
Lawrence plays Lydie Marland, the daughter of Marlan’s derelict brother, whom Marland adopted and cared for after his brother could not.
When the brother died, Marland, 54, annulled the adoption and married Lydie, then 28. She became a well-known socialite who also pushed her husband to raise worker wages and provide healthcare.
When Marland’s company was acquired in a hostile takeover, he lost his fortune. The pair stayed married and after he died in 1941, she lived the rest of her live in seclusion. Get out the Kleenex!
The film is scheduled for a summer 2013 shoot, hopefully between X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.
But back to the Dior show. As we all know, actresses seated in the front rows at designers’ fashion shows is about more than just friendship and politesse -- it's about money.
Lawrence was also seated next to Weinstein at the big Dior couture show in July. Two front row seats together for two hot ticket Dior shows? Hmmmm.
We may not know the details of the Dior deal, but we do know there is one. It's simply derigeur these days. Gossip Girl Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian receive in the neighborhood of $50,00 to occupy a front row seat.
Lawrence could make twice that, being the star of two of the hottest film series since The Twilight Saga.
Other Dior front row faces included: Robert Deniro, Virginie Ledoyen, Olivia Palmero, French actor Christopher Lambert, Cindy Sherman, Eva Herzigova, Leelee Sobiesky, Luc Besson, Diane von Furstenberg, Carine Roitfield and Kanye West, noticeably without his realty TV star girlfriend, Kardashian!
Maybe Dior just didn't want to pay her $50 grand.
