Forget the Happy Meal. 'Lorax' gets green tie-ins

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Dr. Suess' anti-industrial crusader, The Lorax, is about to become a big-time corporate spokesman.

Universal Pictures will begin promoting its latest movie featuring the character from the rhyming children's books this month with a host of commercial tie-ins for eco-friendly products.

The animated movie, "Dr. Suess' The Lorax," is set for release March 2 in North America.

It's about a creature who "speaks for the trees" and fights rampant industrialism in a retelling of the classic first published in 1971.

The studio's nearly 70 launch partners — including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Whole Foods Market — are seeking to latch onto the Lorax's nature-friendly message.

Shouldn't the author have included some examples? Sloppy writing.

If our now and future generations will take notes from the silent generation (the generation from 1925-1945) they would learn how to conserve the right way. their was little trash as they re-used everything from clothes, to milk bottles, even baby diapers, and soda pop. their were glass bottles that were re-used. Their were not all these expensive cleaners either. You would be surprised how well good old fashioned vinegar cleans. It also kept alot of people working at the plants. people had jobs, and still kept the amount of trash to a minimum. If these companies want to be really eco-friendly, they should start putting their products into glass bottles that can be re-filled at stores, instead of making millions of plastic products that get thrown away!

I've wondered many times we are not using glass bottles as we did when I was young. My first savings account was funded by collecting and returning soda bottles for the return deposit.

Toys from Happy Meals end up in a landfill where they take centuries to degrade and this story is about how they came back from the landfills to bury the people who made them.

The Lorax is hot. There again, he kinda reminds me of Wilford Brimley. Ok, nevermind, he ain't hot.
