Fandango will be the exclusive online and mobile movie ticketer for Pacific Theatres, the companies said Tuesday.
The move continues Fandango's expansion into Southern California and marks the fifth new movie exhibitor to sign with the company this year. Fandango added Muvico, Studio Movie Grill, Krikorian Premiere Theatres and Penn Cinema to its rolls and said it now controls 75 percent of the U.S. advance ticketing market.
Pacific Theatres operates nearly 100 screens and its addition pushes Fandango's screen count to 21,000 nationwide. The Pacific deal includes advance ticketing for The Grove, the theater operated at the popular Los Angeles outdoor mall.
The theater chain previously sold its tickets through Fandango's chief rival, Movietickets.com.
Pacific Theatres is owned by Decurion Corporation -- which also owns ArcLight Cinemas -- but the deal with Fandango does not include ticketing for the chain. ArcLight provides its own ticketing.
"Pacific Theatres is one of the leading entities in the exhibition business in California, operating many of L.A.'s top screens," Paul Yanover, president of Fandango, said in a statement. "With this new partnership, Fandango is now able to help the vast majority of Southern Californians plan their movie experience from start to finish."
