Guys With Kids co-star Erinn Hayes has lined up an insurance policy with NBC.
The actress has been tapped to replace Grey's Anatomy alum Chyler Leigh on the network in Holding Patterns, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The multicamera ensemble comedy from The Office's Justin Spitzer centers on a group of friends whose lives completely change after they survive a plane crash. Hayes will take over Leigh's role of Leah, an irresponsible and absent-minded slacker who lacks direction despite her brains and sarcastic wit. She's always been good at anything she tried, and rather than attempt to become great, has moved from one dead-end job to the next. She shares the ground floor of a Minneapolis duplex with her two best friends, Griffin and Sabrina.
Hayes filled in for Leigh, who was under the weather and unable to attend the initial table read. Once Leigh returned and rehearsals began, the actress, sources say, did not have the same chemistry with the rest of the cast.
For Hayes, the role is in second position to NBC's freshman bubble comedy, Guys With Kids. She joins Guys With Kids co-star Zach Cregger (NBC's Assistance) in having booked a pilot in second position this season. It is the second recasting on Holding Patterns, after New Girl's Nelson Franklin replaced 666 Park Avenue's Robert Buckley for similar reasons. Kate Lang Johnson, Humphrey Ker, Kimiko Glenn and Luka Jones (Up All Night) round out the cast.
Spitzer will pen the Universal Television comedy and executive produce alongside Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan.
Repped by UTA and Sweeney Entertainment, Hayes' credits also include Adult Swim's Childrens Hospital and the indie feature It's a Disaster, due in April, as well as Worst Week and Parenthood.
