BERLIN (Reuters) - Roman Polanski may be under house arrest in a Swiss chalet, but the Polish-French director is set to dominate this year's Berlin film festival where his latest movie "The Ghost Writer" will be unveiled.

Interest in the 76-year-old's film, one of 20 competition entries vying for awards at the February 11-21 event, has inevitably soared since his sensational arrest in Switzerland in September.

Lucy Punch has been cast opposite Cameron Diaz in the black comedy "Bad Teacher," which Jake Kasdan is directing for Columbia.

Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg wrote the original screenplay about Elizabeth Halsey (Diaz), a foul-mouthed, conniving seventh-grade teacher who pursues a colleague after being dumped by her sugar daddy. The new romantic interest brings her into conflict with Amy Squirrel (Punch), the school's model teacher.

PARK CITY, Utah (Hollywood Reporter) - Let's get this out of the way up front: In Michael Winterbottom's "The Killer Inside Me," Jessica Alba is pulverized, fist to face, fist to face, fist to poor pretty face, by Casey Affleck for a good three minutes or so. Until her eyes are swollen shut and part of her face has been smashed away, exposing her jaw. What one character later describes as "hamburger," "stewed meat."

It's ultra-real, excruciating to watch and, in some viewers' minds, inexcusable.

LOS ANGELES - Stars from "Precious," "Inglourious Basterds" and "Nine" will take the stage at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Producers say nominees Mo'Nique, Gabourey Sidibe, Christoph Waltz, Diane Kruger and Kate Hudson will serve as presenters at the 16th annual ceremony.
