Demi Moore Makes a Spectacle of Herself at Chanel Bash in Miami Beach (Poll)

Demi Moore was photographed dancing Wednesday night at the Chanel Beachside Barbecue at the Soho Beach House in Miami, alongside rocker Lenny Kravitz and Stacey Keibler, George Clooney’s girlfriend

But despite her wild antics and funky dance moves, Moore looked unusually smart -- probably because she was wearing a pair of horn-rimmed eyeglasses, more commonly worn by professors, students or librarians who actually use them to read.

Moore, 50, is following the latest nerdy eyewear craze: heavy, dark frames similar to the vintage 1970s styles seen in Ben Affleck's Argo. It's not unusual to see actors slip on glasses to tackle reading a speech or the teleprompter when they're onstage. But now these studious specs have been showing up on red carpets, worn by such trend-setters as Kristen Stewart, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rashida Jones and Avril Lavigne.

Stewart and Jones both wear the same black tortoise style. Stewart was seen wearing hers at the Toronto International Film Festival and last month at the JFK and LAX airports. Jones wore hers at Glamour magazine's "These Girls" event Oct. 8 in NYC.

There are many other celebrities who favor the serious style, including Robert Redford, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Tim Burton, Bill Nighy, Guy Pearce and Diane Keaton. For many, these frames have become their trademark. Take a look at THR's gallery of bespectacled stars here.
