'Chewbacca' Actor Tweets Rare Photos from 'Star Wars' Set
Peter Mayhew, the 7-foot-2 actor who played Chewbacca in "Star Wars," has been delighting fans on Twitter, releasing a treasure trove of rare photos from the "Star Wars" set.
Last week, Mayhew began tweeting the behind-the-scenes photos — featuring director George Lucas, co-stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and plenty of Carrie Fisher — from his @TheWookieeRoars Twitter handle.
The British-born actor was cast as Chewbacca in the 1977 "Star Wars," 1980's "The Empire Strikes Back," and 1983's "Return of the Jedi." He renewed his role as the towering Wookiee in "Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith."
Mayhew turns 70 later this year.
