Cheryl Boone Isaacs, a member of the board of governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will produce the 4th annual Governors Awards, which will be held Dec. 1 at the Ray Dolby Ballroom at the Hollywood & Highland Center. She will share duties for producing the evening at which the Academy hands out its honorary awards, with the Don Mischer Production team led by Don Mischer, Charlie Haykel and Juliane Hare.
Since the Academy established the special, members-only event in 2009 to present its honorary statuettes as well as the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, the Governors Awards has become one the classiest stops on the awards season calendar.
Boone Isaacs, who represents the public relations branch on the board of governors, currently heads CBI Enterprises, where she has consulted on such films as The Artist, The King’s Speech, Precious, Spiderman 2 and Tupac: Resurrection. She previously served as president of theatrical marketing for New Line Cinema and before that was executive vice president of worldwide publicity for Paramount Pictures.
"Cheryl’s vision, creativity and her love of movies and our Academy are the perfect foundation for honoring those who have given so much to our industry," Academy president Tom Sherak said. "It's also a pleasure to welcome back Don and his team, some of the most capable professionals in the business, who will give our honorees and guests an exciting and unforgettable evening."
Mischer, a prolific producer and director of live TV events, produced and directed the last two Oscar broadscasts. Haykel and Hare most recently executive produced Oscars Red Carpet Live, the 90-minute red carpet arrivals show that immediately preceded February’s 84th Academy Awards telecast, on which they also served as consulting producers.
The 2012 honorees will be selected at a meeting of the Academy's board in August.
