As production has progressed on "X-Men: Days of Future Past," director Bryan Singer has provided constant updates in the way of casting news and character confirmations. His latest tweets have provided the first glimpse at a familiar face and revealed a couple of new names as well.
In a tweet labeled "Storm watch," the director attached a photo of Halle Berry, who will be taking on the role of Storm for the fourth time. There's not much revelatory here, as it seems like the costume is in line with the aesthetics of Singer's earlier films in this series (unfortunately, Berry isn't sporting the Mohawk that Storm wore back in the 80s during her punk phase).
A later tweet with the message "every mutant needs a place to sit" had a Vine video attached to it that revealed some new names in addition to the older ones that will return for the film. It would appear that both Bishop and James "Warpath" Proudstar will join the ranks of an already stacked cast.
Singer didn't confirm who would play each role, but it seems likely that Eric West or Omar Sy will play Bishop, while Booboo Stewart will take on the Warpath role. Each character has been a staple in the comics for the past couple of decades or so, with Warpath initially being introduced as an evil mutant looking to take revenge on the X-Men for allowing his brother (Thunderbird) to die on a mission.
The introduction of Bishop seems natural for the film, which will deal with time travel, as the character is a displaced time traveler in the comics. Hailing from a dystopian future, he travelled back in time to become a member of the X-Men.
Will Bishop play a similar role in "Days of Future Past?" Since it will also involve a dystopian future, one wonders if Singer will have the character play a large role as one of the time-travelling X-Men (assuming there will be more than one--in the original "Days of Future Past" story, only Kitty Pryde travelled back).
As of now, not much is known about the plot's particulars, but expect Singer to keep revealing more information, especially now that the film has started shooting.
