Any person who gives a child a memory is a person to be revered. I miss my dad terribly but have wonderful memories of watching Big Valley. Back in those days we had only one tv set and when dad got home from work he watched whatever he wanted.

I just loved that show, cant believe the actors I loved so much then are that old! The oldies but goodies are slowly dying off!

You can still catch them sometimes on cable, encore westerns just spent the last 2 years running every day episodes of "the Virginian"...another favorite. Keep your eyes open as I know a lot of families like to watch those old westerns together.

Makes me feel old, I still remember when there was a western of some sort on about every night. Now, it's recycled sitcoms.

I used to watch as a kid and I would have thought it would seem dated and lame now, but no. I was passing the TV room when Big Valley was on and I was rooted there in the doorway, mesmerized until the ads came on. Bravo Mr. Breck.

I also watched Big Valley as a kid - every single one of the cast was outstanding! No one can compare with Barbara Stanwyck and of course Linda Evans was the beauty! I personally had a big crush on "Nick". RIP Peter.

Ah, Peter Breck, you either loved him or hated him. Either way he evoked people's emotions, and that's what actors are supposed to do. Personally I like him, I thought the character suited him to a "T".

We were just looking him up on the web recently. What a shame, RIP. The Big Valley reruns are on "ME TV" every day. Great show, great memories. It's nice to watch old shows without the swearing, etc.

R.I.P. Peter Breck. You're now in that Big Valley in the sky with Miss Barbara Stanwyck (as she was credited on the show) and Richard Long (Jarrod).

As a mature man, proud American and liver of life, I feel blessed by having lived in one of the greatest periods of history known as the "baby boom." When I compare the movies and TV programming of the period before 1975 and those after there is a major quality difference in acting, directing, producing and above all, values imparted to the viewers reflecting those of society. Those before 1975 show superior quality in all areas whereas those after vary widely. There was a wide variety of quality entertainment available before and a limited variety after. In shows like "Twelve O'Clock High" "The Big Valley", "Perry Mason", miniseries like "Once An Eagle" and "Testimony of Two Men" and even cartoons, there were great life examples, positive values and a deep respect for freedom, excellence and strong desire to encourage the viewers to strive forth for justice, truth and knowledge of the world as well as leadership in it. Show me where there is any of that now in the present programming which is packed full of political correctness, relativism and immorality reflecting the values of not only those that produce it but of those that consume it as well. It is true that there are still some great talents present in the movie and TV genres, but there were many more then..a sign of our society's rapid decline since 1975. So rather than mourning the passing of Peter Breck and others, I praise them not only for their lives of talent but also for how they continue to inspire those of us who lived to inspire others because of them:-)! Sorry to hear peter breck has died. Love the big valley and all the westerns wish they would have some like them now instead of all this alien stuff it was fun to watch shows that had a good clean story with a good moral at the end,i wish someone would step out and make more like these. Rest in peace peter and god bless your family.

the young people of today should watch old shows like Peter was on, they might learn how to treat people. the shows of today aren't worth watching. on the old shows you learn to respect others. today you learn to desrespect people. bla bla bla
