Will Arnett has joined Megan Fox as one of the leads in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, being made by Paramount and Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes production banner.
Jonathan Liebesman is directing the live-action CG hybrid take on the classic 1980s characters which first debuted in an indie comic before going on to become a massively popular cartoon and merchandising line.
Fox is playing the turtles’ friend April O’Neil while inhabiting the mo-cap shells will be up-and-comers Alan Ritchson, Pete Ploszek, Jeremy Howard and Noel Fisher.
Arnett’s role is being kept secret although still uncast from the Ninja Turtles mythology are Splinter, the turtles' sensei rat, and the villainous and masked Shredder. Arnett is not playing Casey, another human friend, and a role which is also still not cast.
Producing the movie are Bay and his Platinum Dune partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller, along with Jason Reed, Galen Walker and Scott Mednick.
The script is by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol).
Paramount has set a June 6, 2014 for Ninja Turtles.
Arnettt is returning to his Emmy-nominated role as Gob in Netflix’s Arrested Development and is also starring in a CBS pilot for Greg Garcia.
Arnett is lending his voice to portray Batman in Warner Bros.’ upcoming animated film The Lego Movie as well as The Nut Job from Gulfstream Pictures.
He is repped by WME, Principato-Young and Stone Meyer.
