BAPTISM: Last week, Kellie Pickler scored her fifth Bilboard No. 1 as her new album, The Woman I Am, debuted in pole position on Top Independent Albums. This week, it’s Chris Daughtry’s turn to up his total of chart-toppers, as his band Daughtry’s fourth studio album, Baptized, bows in first place on Top Internet Albums.
Baptized performs well on several other charts, with debuts at No. 5 on Top Rock Albums, No. 6 on The Billboard 200 and Top Current Albums and No. 23 on the Tastemakers album chart.
On the Billboard 200, all four of Daughtry’s albums have peaked in the top 10. The group’s self-titled debut reached No. 1 in November 2006. Leave This Town also peaked at No. 1, in July 2009. Break the Spell peaked at No. 8 in November 2011.
Daughtry now has 40 Billboard No. 1s to its credit, good enough for third place among all Idols with the most chart-topping titles. Kelly Clarkson leads the way, with 89, and Carrie Underwood is next, with 69.
These new No. 1s by Pickler and Daughtry bring the total number of chart-toppers by Idol contestants to 415.
BRIGHT ‘TONIGHT’: Scotty McCreery is moving in the right direction on several Billboard charts: up. With the holiday season upon us, his Christmas with Scotty McCreery rebounds 4-3 on Top Country Catalog Albums, 24-18 on Top Pop Catalog Albums and 137-116 on The Billboard 200.
His current single, “See You Tonight,” is also doing well. It climbs 36-32 on Country Digital Songs, 28-26 on Hot Country Songs, 23-21 on Country Airplay and 27-23 on Country Detections. The parent album of the same name holds at No 8 on Top Country Albums.
